You may heard about Facebook’s URL shortener service. Facebook has just started it experimentally. Facebook.com ‘s own shorten URL is fb.me. If you point your browser to http://fbl.me you will be redirected to Facebook.com.
Now you can short your Facebook profile address with it. http://fb.me/your_profile redirects to your profile and same thing will work for your Facebook pages too.
The URL was created in an effort to make Links to Facebook, through messaging, simpler and not to exceed the 160 character limit. Also, useful for Twitter’s 140 link limit.
Currently, Fb.me seems to be rolled out on a limited basis. It currently doesn’t allow you to make any short URLs using this new url shortener. But if you use facebook mobile, you may start noticing long urls such as - m.facebook.com being replaced by fb.me.
So far I think Facebook will widen its URL shortening service and very soon you will able to short any URL on Facebook with fb.me.
