Updating and introducing new & interesting features is a common nature of the giant social media Facebook. Status tagging may be the latest feature of Facebook is now available to every user.
People often update their status to express their thoughts and feelings or to share their real world experience with their friends and family.
Facebook’s product manager Andrew Huang said the status tags- coming over the next several weeks -are “all about the engagement”.
Facebook has started to let their users “tag” their friends in their post from September 10, 2009.
It is similar to how someone already can do tagging with photos, videos & notes of friends. Users are now able to reference brands and businesses that have Facebook Pages as well as events, groups and application in their status post.
Tagging in status is another way to let people know who and what you are talking about.
When you are writing a status update in the publisher you can tag connections by using the “@” operators, just like “@replies” on Twitter. Include the “@” symbol before your friends name. As you type the name of what you would like to reference, a drop down menu will appear that allow you to select any friends, page, group or event. The “@” symbol will not be displayed in the published status update or post after you have added your tags, only a link with the friend/page/group name will show up.

Facebook Status Tagging
When you will tag any friends in your status updates, he/she will receive a notification and wall post linking them to your post. Your friend also have the option to remove tags of himself from your post.
Here is how it looks in the publisher:

Facebook Status Tagging
For instance, you are missing one of your friend named Writika Anwar .If you want to tag him in your status you need to post “Missing @Writika Anwar too much” (without quotation mark). Don’t copy paste your fried’s name.As you type the name, a drop down menu will appear.
This tagging feature make easier for someone to pull up all the status post mentioning any particular friend, regardless of who made the post.
Again , with this tagging feature page managers are now able to track the comments & feedback about their brands and business. All @ tags appear on the wall of the pages as well, even though users never visited the page. Same things happen to event and group administrators too.
Isn’t it a big deal for facebook marketers?
