OCR that is Optical Character Recognition is a way to accurately turn scanned documents and digital photos into editable and searchable electronic formats mainly as text.
These days many OCR services both online OCR and desktop client are out there. There aren’t many free OCR services available.
What Free Online OCR service allows you to:
Recognize text and characters from PDF scanned documents (including multipage files), photographs and digital camera captured images.
Convert OCR results directly to your favorite formats including Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Rtf, Html and Txt.
Store OCRed files online in your secure workspace. Also you can download these files on your PC, edit text and print.
ABBYY FineReader Online is one of the best online OCR services, but the free version is limited to 10 pages a day.
Online OCR is another online tool that allow to convert your scanned file into various format like Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Rtf, Html and Txt.
Free OCR is nitfy little web service . Basically, you upload a PDF or image file (JPG, TIFF, BMP) from your computer and Free OCR will process the document/image within a few seconds and spit it back out in plain text format.
Finally, the Google also has a online OCR service which is totally free of cost without any limitations. Google Docs lets you perform OCR (optical character recognition) on an image. You can upload a high-resolution JPG, GIF, or PNG image that has less than 10 MB and Google Docs extracts the text and converts it into a new document. Google mentions that “the operation can currently take up to 40 seconds”.
Point your browser to http://googlecodesamples.com/docs/php/ocr.php.
After login hit the “Grant access” button and the Google docs OCR service page will appear. Browse & select your file and then click on “Start OCR Import“. The image file should be maximum 10MB.

I think that will not work. OCR softwares not yet such intelligent.
