Before starting about Google latitude & how to add it to your blog I want to discuss why I added it to my blog. I believe that readers are the asset of any type of blogging business. I always try to make my blogs too much closer to my readers. When a new reader comes to any blog and get interested to read the posts then naturally some question arise on his /her mind. Who is the blogger? From which country? Where does he/she live?
Actually, I am talking about blog personalization which is a common theme in marketing. Personalizing your blog is a good way to help your readers get to know you better as well as making your blog different from someone else.
Isn’t it better to add a short details about you & a map describing your location on your sidebar so that readers can know about you while reading a post? Definitely , Yes.
Yeah, there is a “About me ” page on almost every blog but readers are getting too much lazy to read about you by going your “About me” page.
Suppose, when a Bengali reader will come to my blog from search engine or referred by other sources and found that me, the blogger also from Bangladesh , obviously he/she get more interested about my blog .And will return back to know what his neighbor is writing about.
Again , Thoughts & views on the same topic can vary region to region. As a Asian I am expressing my thoughts on my blog. After reading my thoughts on a specific topic any American or British reader might fall in confusion coz their views can be different on the same subject. In this circumstances, if the reader get to know that I am a Asian from my blog’s sidebar Google map, he/she will be relaxed thinking that “wow , he is an Asian. He can think like this. It’s ok from his end.”
It’s my ideas. What you think about blog personalization? Now, we can proceed on with Google latitude.
According to Wikipedia -
Google Latitude is a location-aware mobile app developed by Google. Latitude allows a mobile phone user to allow certain people on to track their location. Via their own iGoogle accounts, the user’s cell phone location is mapped on Google Maps. The user can control the accuracy and details of what each of the other users can see - an exact location can be allowed, or it can be limited to identifying the city only. For privacy, it can also be turned off by the user, or a location can be manually entered. The user must enable the location features of the phone.
Want to share your location? Latitude is available on Blackberry, S60, and Windows Mobile. Just visit www.google.com/latitude on your Smartphone’s web browser to download the latest version of Google maps for mobile with latitude.
Don’t have any Smartphone or Blackberry? Ok. Visit Google latitude Hoempage on your desktop or laptop to install the Latitude iGoogle gadget and share your location right from your computer.
